Hoping to jump-start this struggling city's economy in the wake of
Hurricane Katrina, Mayor Ray Nagin said he wants to allow Las
Vegas-style gambling in the city's larger hotels.

sure of Biloxi, waits for Gulfport
Harrah's Entertainment plans to build a "larger, better casino" to
replace the gutted Grand Casino Biloxi, but is undecided about whether
to rebuild its Gulfport casino until it understands how city leaders

she was the inspiration for the Texas government's drive to shut down
the casinos of two federally recognized tribes. The allegation is
debatable, but supported by enough circumstantial evidence to make it
worth investigation.

changes to Casino Control Act
They range from relatively benign changes in the way cards or dice are
handled to more serious proposals involving security on the casino

Rosemont Mayor Donald Stephens, a longtime advocate of a new casino in
his village, now says he doesn't think it's such a hot idea - hastening
to add, however, that it is too late to put the brakes on the project.

With the MontBleu name announced Monday, the former Caesars Tahoe has
two heads of the helm to steer the casino and hotel in a new direction
- one from Boomtown Casino in Reno and the other working years from

tribe pleaded guilty to a host of criminal charges at his initial
appearance in federal court.

A Las Vegas casino that bankrolled an effort last year to get casino
gambling legalized in Nebraska lost its fight Friday to have a $97,000
fine cut to $14,200.

lead while searching for a 27-year-old Sacramento woman who had been
reported missing by her boyfriend after he found her car parked in the
Thunder Valley Casino parking lot.
