How much of a "skill" and how much of a starting bank roll require to make a living out of playing BJ part time?
Your technical skill must be perfect. Basic strategy and quite a few index numbers. I use about 60 indices; others will say that the Illustrious 18 will get you by, but that's weak. Learn more.
Bankroll depends on how much you are willing to grind out at low stakes to try to build up the bankroll. A good starting point is about 50k. With less than that, playing at a reasonable risk of ruin, your travel expenses will eat up your profit. But "bankroll" doesn't have the same meaning for everyone. There has been much discussion on Green Chip about bankroll. I suggest you join Green Chip to get much good information in response to to this type of question.
Does K-O work?
It is not the strongest system, but it gets the job done. I know several successful full-time players who use KO on their count games.
I'm looking for a way to supplement my living expense after my planned retirement from a small business in 5 years.
It can be done, but it is not as easy as it seems. The travel is the biggest hassle nowadays. Here are two articles that may be helpful:
